Beginning 4-Harness Weaving



You will learn the basics of weaving by preparing the warp, warping your loom from front to back, weaving your sampler and finishing the fabric. Learn to weave and receive many weaving tips during the workshop. You will receive a handout with complete instructions for setting up and weaving your project.  Don’t miss this opportunity to learn to weave on a multi-harness loom!

You will need the following supplies:

  • Note taking supplies
  • Scissors
  • tapestry needle
  • 2 or 3 brown paper grocery bags (like from Vons or Trader Joe’s)
  • the cardboard tube from inside a roll of paper towels
  • Boat shuttles and bobbins if you have them

 If you are bringing your own loom you will also need:

  •  A FUNCTIONAL loom with at least 4 harnesses and 8” wide weaving width
  • At least 30 heddles on each harness 1 – 4
  • 10 dent reed in the loom
  • sley/threading hook
  • 1 or 2 shuttles (prefer boat shuttles)
  • 2 – 3 bobbins per shuttle if using boat shuttles

4 harness Erica Looms can be purchased at Sheep Thrills prior to the class (10% discount) or rented for $25 (rental fee will be applied to purchase of loom if you decide to purchase at the end of the class).  Call shop to purchase or rent loom.  Yarn kit purchased at time of class registration.  Snacks and drinks provided.
